ABSTRACT --- One of the most important things in aluminum extrusion is the structural
design of dies. Many researchers are actively conducting research, trying to apply the
simulation technology to extrusion die design. We, at Showa Denko, have also been
conducting research on the simulation technology for many years. And, recently, we
succeeded in establishing simulation technology, which can be applied to mass
production. We actually applied the simulation technology to die designing for extrusion
products. As a result, we became capable of designing the optimum die structures,
which produce satisfactory products, right from the very first extrusion. By applying
simulation analysis to die design, stable production of high quality products became
possible. Also, extrusion problems were reduced.
