Track: EXTRUSION EQUIPMENT - Age Ovens
ABSTRACT --- The introduction of a continuous aging oven is a real innovation in
extrusion aging technology. The continuous operation of an aging oven has many
advantages for batch operation. There is no need for baskets, racks, and spacers, and
there is a considerable reduction in heat losses, labor costs, and aging time. A real use
of the continuous oven, based on a walking beam displacement system, is also
described. The economy of the process is discussed as well, including the Return on
Investment (ROI) and a comparison with conventional batch aging systems. Smooth
operation of the continuous oven is ensured by P.L.C.s connected to all the P.L.C.s in
the extrusion line, and by a multi-story oven structure, where profile batches are fed
and extracted according to a programmed, smooth running sequence.
