ABSTRACT --- Architecture, building and construction markets harbor myths
about aluminum’s energy-efficient capabilities, specifically for use in
fenestration. Computer software can often dispel these misconceptions by
measuring the thermal efficiency of a window design—from a single extrusion to
an entire window assembly. When assessing a whole building’s performance, the
software’s finite element platform analyzes each material’s emissivity and
thermal conductivity within an individual unit, to then generate the assembly’s
overall efficiency. Infrared analysis and color flux magnitudes reveal energy
efficiency improvement opportunities.
