ABSTRACT --- Biomechanics is the study of the mechanical design of
organisms and their movements, integrating physics and biology. The
interactions of animals with their physical world are based on trial and error, and
are shaped by evolution through maximizing fitness. The movement of fish in
water and observation of a slice of a fish reminded us of the shape of webs in
porthole dies, and caused us to study and research the proper shape of web cross–
sections in porthole dies through biomechanics.
