Extended Die Life and Consistent Weight per Foot Using BC-115 Inserted Tooling

ABSTRACT --- Development of an inserted extrusion die that runs up to eight
times more billets than other type tooling is discussed. Weight per foot does not
increase over inserted tooling life, increasing productivity, reducing die changes
and rework time, and holding tighter tolerances over tooling life. Insert
manufacturing uses proprietary substrate materials, processes and coatings.
Extruder results, along with hard and soft cost savings are demonstrated.
