ABSTRACT—How can the extrusion industry develop new solutions for the total performance required by
the global market? Extrusion excellence increasingly requires machinery and equipment, technologies and
processes, value-added designs and applications, which ensure the highest possible level of reliability,
availability, capability, and efficiency. Innovation is one of the most important tools for extruders to
maintain and increase their competitive advantage, and to give the market real added value. To widen and extend the range of applications and to optimize processing and uses of extrusions, Metra is actively
involved in the development of new extrusion designs, working in close cooperation with customers from the processing and manufacturing industries. In this paper, a selected review of stories of new extrusion
applications and efficient solutions for the rapid introduction into the value-added chain for enhancement of the final products is shown. The more advanced applications, and the growing demand in quality to fulfill new and more advanced needs, especially in the automotive industry, require manufacturing efficiency and design, a clear understanding of extrusion technologies, and an accurate knowledge of the processes to achieve the desired outcome.
